What we cover

Scope of this service

  • Shelves, mirrors, blinds and curtain poles
  • Door adjustments, handles and closers
  • Small repairs to fixtures and fittings
  • Flat-pack assembly
  • Materials quoted separately or supplied by you

Included in the agreed scope

A handyman visit charged by the hour for a list of small jobs: flat-pack assembly, shelves, mirrors and blinds, door and lock adjustments, sealant, filling and touch-up, curtain poles and general fixings. Pre-conditions: an agreed task list before the visit, fixings suited to the wall type confirmed, and clear working space.

Not included

Gas and notifiable electrical work, work at height, structural alterations, roofing, damp and asbestos work. Materials and fixings. Full-room decorating and floor laying, which are separate services.

What affects your quotation

  • Number of tasks and total time on site
  • Materials and fixings required
  • Property size, layout and current condition
  • Access, parking and any permit requirements
  • Agreed scope, frequency and timings
  • Planned maintenance and multi-task handyman visits have a minimum of 3 total operative hours (from £141). A single small repair may use the 1-hour minimum (£53), followed by £44 per operative hour in 30-minute increments. The team hours are added together and the minimum applies once per visit: one person for 3 hours or two people for 1.5 hours each. We agree a task list that fits the booked time; larger jobs may need longer. Materials and agreed extras are separate. Scope and price must be confirmed in writing before booking. A shorter recurring cleaning or maintenance visit may be agreed for a suitable local contract after an administrator reviews the scope and records the exception in the written quotation. It is not an automatic discount. Existing agreed contracts stay unchanged.

Starting price

From £141 per planned visit

Planned maintenance and multi-task handyman visits have a minimum of 3 total operative hours (from £141). After the first operative hour: £22 per 30 minutes (£44 per operative hour). New 8-operative-hour package: £340; further agreed work £44 per operative hour, in 30-minute increments. The cheaper eligible hourly/package option applies once, with no double charge for the same hours. Normal-hours availability applies. Parts, materials and agreed extras separate.

Agreed scope
Agreed non-specialist tasks. Parts, materials and regulated trade work are excluded. Planned maintenance or a task list: 3 total operative hours minimum (£141). A single small repair may use the 1-hour minimum (£53), then £22 per 30 minutes (£44 per operative hour). New 8-operative-hour package £340, then £44 per further operative hour in 30-minute increments. Apply one eligible price, not both.
Minimum charge
£141 for a planned visit; £53 for an agreed single small repair
Additional charges
Work found outside the agreed scope is stopped and reported first. It is re-quoted in writing and only carried out once you approve it. Nothing extra is charged automatically.
Materials
Tools and standard consumables supplied by Sea Lighter. Parts, fixings and finishes quoted separately or supplied by the customer.
Availability
Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Saturday visits by arrangement. Evening, weekend and urgent slots are confirmed when we quote, not guaranteed. For a clearly specified job we can price from photographs and measurements you send us. A survey is arranged instead when access, condition or substrate is unclear.
Delivered by
Sea Lighter team.

Starting prices are indicative and, where a minimum charge is shown, the minimum applies to a single job or visit. Your final quote depends on property size, condition, access and the agreed scope of work. Any additional charges will be included in your quote before you confirm.

Before the visit

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to what clients usually ask us before booking this service.

What kind of handyman jobs do you take on?

Small jobs around a home or business, such as putting up shelves, mirrors, blinds and curtain poles, adjusting doors, handles and closers, small repairs to fixtures and fittings, and flat-pack assembly.

How is handyman work charged?

It is charged by operative time on site. The first-hour charge and hourly rate are shown on this page; parts and materials are extra and confirmed in your quotation.

Can I give you a list of several small jobs?

Yes. Send the task list with photos so we can estimate the total time on site and the fixings or materials needed before the visit.

Do I need to supply the materials?

Either option works: we can quote materials separately, or fit items you supply — just confirm before the visit.

How do I get a price?

Use the instant estimate for an indicative figure, or request a confirmed written quotation — we normally reply within one working day.

Are you insured and checked?

Yes. We are fully insured, enhanced DBS checked, a registered waste carrier and COSHH and manual handling trained.
